Noel Sterett
Noel Sterett serves as senior counsel with Alliance Defending Freedom’s Center for Parental Rights.
Before joining ADF in 2024, Sterett was a partner at the law firm of Dalton & Tomich and oversaw the firm’s Illinois office. In that position, he litigated civil liberties cases in courts across the country. Sterett successfully defended the religious land use rights of many churches, religious schools, and ministries. He also served as lead counsel for nurse Sandra Rojas in her landmark case under the Illinois Health Care Right of Conscience Act. The case established an important precedent for healthcare professionals in Illinois and resulted in a judgment of over $370,000—the largest judgment under the Conscience Act on record.
Before Dalton & Tomich, Sterett served as an associate attorney and partner at Mauck & Baker, LLC in Chicago from 2007 to 2018. While at Mauck & Baker, Sterett became an ADF allied attorney and member of the National Litigation Academy Honor Corps. Sterett is also a member of the Christian Legal Society and has served on the Board of Directors for Courtside Ministries, the Rockford Rescue Mission, and the Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford.
Sterett is admitted to practice in Illinois, various federal district and appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Sterett is a graduate of Regent University’s School of Law in Virginia.
