The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Christiana Holcomb regarding the Ohio House’s vote Thursday to include the Save Women’s Sports Act as an amendment to SB 187. The amendment protects opportunities for women and girls in athletics by ensuring they are not forced to compete against males playing on women’s sports teams:

“When the law ignores biological differences, women and girls bear the brunt of the harm. The Save Women’s Sports Act ensures that female athletes in Ohio are able to compete on a level playing field. We have seen increasing examples of males dominating girls’ athletic competitions, capturing championships and shattering long-standing female track records. Allowing males to compete in girls’ sports is discriminatory and destroys fair competition and women’s athletic opportunities. We commend Rep. Jena Powell, Rep. Reggie Stoltzfus, and the other Ohio representatives who took a stand for women by voting for this important legislation, and we urge the Ohio Senate to pass the Save Women’s Sports Act as well.”
